VOLUNTEER FOR THE
DES MOINES ARTS FESTIVAL

What makes the Des Moines Arts Festival so special? It all comes back to our hardworking, fun-loving volunteer crew.

In honor of National Volunteer Week, we want to thank the hundreds of volunteers who make the Des Moines Arts Festival happen each summer. And lots of high-fives to Exile Brewing Company and VolunteerLocal for supporting these volunteers.

Join the fun and sign up for a volunteer shift. The volunteer roles are detailed below.

FESTIVAL GREETER

Greeters are needed at Welcome Stations throughout the Festival site to interact with guests, answer questions, and provide literature such as Site Maps, Entertainment Schedules, and  Festival Programs. BONUS: These volunteers have a two-way radio to contact Festival staff for help answering any obscure or esoteric questions. This is a great role for small groups!

ARTIST ASSISTANT
Artist Assistant volunteers work closely with a vital part of the Festival, the artists!
These volunteers assist artists with unloading their equipment, as well as with setup and teardown. Volunteer duties also include making the artists feel welcome in Des Moines and to ensure that they have a pleasant experience at the Festival.

FOOD COURT HOSPITALITY
Foodies will enjoy assisting with the East or West Food Courts to keep the area tidy. Duties include wiping down tables, picking up trash, chatting with guests, and enjoying the fresh air. Pro tip - If you make friends with the food vendors, they'll provide plenty of samples!
